A Reflection

Now that we’ve reached the end of April, I figured it’s about time I reflect on how my New Year’s Resolution are going. With that said, enjoy! (I fixed the formatting too!)

Everyday’s the same old grind
Forthcoming are the new resolutions
Till they all merge in your mind
What you need is a clear solution
A man of steel was not born that way
Hard work and tireless perseverance
In Each and every single day
Was what promised that deliverance
Life still goes on if you don’t
Down to a mundane existence
To live to its fullest potential it won’t
Permit you as it needs it’s sustenance
So it’s worth pumping the iron
And start to sweat the small and big stuff
You got to awaken your inner lion
And not let anyone call your bluff.

Pick a Card

Another passion of mine (other than poems) is cards and all the various things you can do with them. Poker, magic, flourishes are just a small list of the things you can do with cards and I figured why not combine both my passion of cardistry, and poems. With that being said, here’s another one! 😀

If hearts are red,

And spades are black,

Does that mean that…

Diamonds are forever?

A gambler risks,

And I say,

Tsk tsk tsk,

And he goes all in

The hand are dealt,

And the luck is felt,

But the cards,

Were on the wrong side

Ah cards…

The creativity they show,

The uniqueness we know,

All left in 52.

And with that we end,

Doing our flourishes to no avail,

The magic, not impressing,

Leaving me feeling frail

An Old One

Procrastination-1

Hi everyone! A while ago I was thinking about what kind of issues do most people suffer from and after a bit I came up with the answer. Procrastination. So here’s a poem about just that 🙂

Time.

A perpetual boon.

A perpetual burden.

Ever present, always there,

But never enough unless one’s aware

Plenty of it in every day,

If one learns to use it the right way

You hate,

That there is never enough of it,

Because,

You always seem to need more of it,

When you procrastinate.

There’ll be time over the weekend,

You tell yourself,

I can always do it tomorrow,

You always tell yourself,

But as quickly as it comes

Just as swiftly it goes

It does keep rolling along

Like the words to a very sweet song

When the clock starts to tick

The pencil comes down

The burden begins

And ends with a frown

One needs to learn to control

Watch it like the secret patrol

Plan and adhere and execute

Like a person that’s very astute

If so managed, one’s sure to succeed

With time to complete every deed

Time listens and pays heed

Such a comforting thought indeed

The First of Many

Thanks for joining me! With the start of the new year, as a new years resolution, I’ve started on a journey to pursue my passion of poetry as often as possible and I hope you decide to tag along! I’ll be posting every month. Enjoy!! 🙂 (below is one of my favorite quotes)

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.    — Ralph Waldo Emerson
