After going to the temple today I thought more and more about God and what He means and how everything we know exists is just something He created. It’s crazy, isn’t it?

Stop and consider God’s wonders
Including even lighting and thunder

His ways are truly inscrutable
His love for humanity indisputable

A part of that wonder, yes it’s us
That He coined with the least fuss

He gave us insurmountable power
Yet a mind as delicate as a flower

The ability to choose and be wise
And be kind, affectionate and nice

Yet there are times when we forget
And make choices that we regret

It can initiate a slew of negativity
And makes us forget the divinity

So rather than go down that road
Be positive, let emotions reload

Then you’ll discover inner peace
And will have your demons cease

Now that it’s 2018 and I’m happy to say that I managed to keep up my posts on this blog for all of last year. It feels great to complete a resolution but I’ve had a lot of fun doing this and I don’t really want it to end. So it’s not going to end. I’m going to keep posting as it’s an awesome creative outlet for me.

You can choose to be rough or kind

You can do it all or just a fraction

You can let it control you or slay

With the end of year approaching, I wanted to reflect on how I held up my new years resolution. Oh, I also had a dentist appointment 🙂

Even if it’s only twice a year
Like your scheduled dental cleaning
If you learn to re-assess and clear
Your life can have more meaning

It enables you to catch yourself
Curtailing detours from your goals
It might serve as your little elf
And save you from the black hole

New Year resolutions don’t go far
Unless you revisit them often
With lethargy you need to wage a war
And not cave in and soften

So give it your best and energize
And everything will fall into place
It helps to execute and strategize
As you find your own space

Well, this past week for me has been really good at some points and pretty bad at others. I decided to take this Sunday to sit down and write a poem about these kinds of experiences.

There are days when you’re mad
And days that make you so very glad

Go ahead and take them in stride
Run along with the roller coaster ride

Try as you might, you can’t win some
Let that not ever make you worrisome

Have a mindset that things will work
It’ll annihilate cob webs that lurk

Mind always longs for equanimity
An urge to be tranquil for eternity

Discover that life indeed is a journey
Exceedingly comparable to a tourney

You can begin with the present
Do away with all your dissent

Always be cheerful, all the way
Make it your mantra everyday

Such existence is indeed no fantasy
Strive, you’ll soon discover ecstasy

I exfoliated today and after getting all the gunk off my face I thought about not only exfoliation physically, but mentally. This is the product of my reflections.

What do you get when you cleanse?
Not just out, but on the inside
You relieve the attitude of being tense
And things that you choose to hide

It guides to clarify your thoughts
And prepares you to be proactive
Gives you all you ever sought
And enables you to be attractive

It assists strengthen your resolve
And urges you on to action
Your inhibitions begin to dissolve
As it curtails your distraction

It empowers to clean your peripheral
Creating a pristine surrounding
It discards clutter that’s ephemeral
Totally making it rewarding

You feel rather accomplished
But be thankful for the same
Your baneful habits abolished,
Commence your journey to fame

So I decided to reread one my favorite biographies, Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different by Karen Blumenthal. I thought about how Steve Jobs changed how he operated and decided to be different and how that impacted his life.

Wow! Did it rain today or what? All I could hear was the pitter patter of the rain the entire day it was crazy. Never in Texas do you expect a torrential downpour. Anyways, here’s a poem about it

The day starts off balmy warm
As the early rays start to emerge
It’s just then beginning to form
The shadows start to converge

Soon enough it’s seen overhead
Giving off tremendous heat
Wish you can climb back into bed
Find your shade and grab a seat

Enough’s enough the clouds say
Something really needs to be done
You cannot roast the day
It’s time for me to have some fun

It commences a huge downpour
Much to the delight of nature
Cools things down and so much more
Like a fun and awesome adventure

Now it has incurred the sun’s wrath
And justice ought to be served
It dissipates everything it’s path
Equality reigns as it gets preserved

One of my favorites Zenyatta quotes is “experience tranquility”, so as I normally would, I created a poem out of it.

Life is all about tranquility
But that seems oft forgotten
The focus shifts to the liability
Making the mind feel quite rotten

Life is all about satisfaction
But that desire for more is relentless
It goes on to define our action
Making the mind truly repentless

Life is all about giving
But what happens is its antonym
It drives the need for accumulating
Making the mind form a new acronym

Life is all about divinity
But that gets completely redefined
It begins to disregard serendipity
Making the mind more misaligned

But life is all about change
So weed out all your inferior ways
Then go ahead and rearrange
You’ll be beset with golden days

Experience tranquility!!

I was feeling pretty down, but my mom honestly gave a TedTalk level inspirational speech and I’ll probably be inspired for the rest of summer vacation. So here it is —–>

There’s only one thing that’s certain
Yet mind keeps clamoring for more
And then time does draw the curtain
All’s left is the egress to the door

So does mankind lack the wisdom
To see beyond the clasp of today
Then how to attain the kingdom
With everlasting joy everyday

Mind is ever restless as the waves
That keeps pounding at the shores
Tame the thoughts, cut the craves
Practice that like a list of chores

Kindness and love give a chance
As does patience and endurance
To move on and further advance
While ensuring timely deference
