Well, now that the first semester of school is over I finally have a vacation! Even though I haven’t traveled, spending time relaxing with my family and reading removes all worldly stress. Enjoy my poem about vacations!

Working on college apps got me thinking about the past and the future. So here’s a poem for the present 😉

I just watched The Truman Show and I immediately fell in love with it. It made me really reflect on the construct of the world we live in and how it alters in ways we don’t decide. With that said, here’s a poem relating us and a common house pet – a parrot.

We are analogous to a parrot
Living in its golden gilded cage
It’s predetermined in our tarot
If destiny might make us a sage
We think we’re in a state of bliss
Under the shroud of ignorance
For we know not what we miss
His guidance and assurance
Jealousy runs rampant, as does hate
When we let feelings rule our day
Despite being in the captive state
We can’t control what we do or say
To realize in full what’s inside
We need His steady hand
To make us see what we hide
And wake us up to stand
Faith can move many a mountain
For if we hold on to that thought
We can jump start our fountain
And escape before we get caught
Today’s my Dad’s birthday!! And only this year I really realized I could write about birthdays so that’s why you’ve been seeing so many birthday poems. Anyways, here’s one for my dad.
Father, it really is your lucky day
Cause I’m a poet and I know it
Wishing you the best for your special day
In a poem that’s sure to be a hit
Father O Father, you lecture us so,
But after all your words only help us grow
As a person and a human, I must admit
Even though it resulted in quite a few fits
Your knowledge is really quite massive
There’s no need to be so passive
Put it to good use
And you and I could call a truce
I really should stop with rhymes
It’s time to focus attention on you
As the midnight hour chimes
I’ll sing Happy birthday to you
Powering through life is hard, and sometimes you’ll get hit extremely hard by things you never expected to happen. I won’t get into details, but that happened to me today and I decided to write a poem as a way to get all of it off my chest.

I remain calm in the face of a roaring tide
And placid in the midst of a windy gust
With patience and trust on my side
Tranquility prevails and fear turns to dust
As the tumbleweed rolls thru the sand
And dark clouds blind the horizon
Peaceful and stoic I stand
As time travels thru many a season
Life itself is an epic journey
With waves of action surfing up and down
Sometimes it feels like a tourney
Watching every step, lest you drown
But going through it, I’ll risk it all
In each and every passing year
Cause my belief is there to break my fall
Help clear the clouds and bring on cheer
Well, this is the end of the first week of the debate camp I attended and I still have one more week to go! Today was our free-day so I decided it would be the perfect time to write this month’s poem. So here’s a poem about debate camp.
With summer offering me a lot of time on my hands, I decided to look back on older ways of writing and the different syntax used in history. With this in mind, I decided to write this month’s poem utilizing the structures and word choices used in the past. Enjoy!
Life shall not be a single adventure
Rather built- through foundation
A magnificent shift ever changing
Opportunities to rebuild and recreate
Though thy options seem bleak
Picking at thines confidence
Conjure your strength and stand sleek
So you can argue with diffidence
Amidst the looming clouds and darkening sky
With our age thundering in the distance
To resolve thyself and form ties
For this is the propeller to persistence
His thoughts now speak, ” what lies here”
Seemingly so resilient and powerful
To help thyself tackle any miss
My oh my, thou art wonderful
I guess I like posting on birthdays. Today was my mom’s birthday and it helped me realize what a gift my mom is. I wouldn’t be here without her and she has done everything for me. Here’s a poem for her.
Today was my sister’s birthday! I made sure to finish my schoolwork ahead of time so we could have lots of fun. We did! Here’s a recounting of the events (in poem format obviously)

For the last 14 or so posts I’ve been posting rhyme scheme poems for the most part. The rhyme bug has really bit me bad, but I can’t say I am not glad!!
